This is one of the places you go and see because it’s so random, like the world’s biggest ball of twine. 😜 We found it by looking up things to do near us and thought it was so unique that we wanted to go and see it.
The Ames Monument is a 4-sided, 60 foot high, native granite pyramid. It was built at the highest elevation of the Union Pacific transcontinental tracks at an astounding elevation of 8,247 ft! Wow! It was built in 1880-1882 for the Ames brothers, who were Union Pacific financiers, and whose faces appear carved in stone at the top. It is literally a large pyramid in the middle of a high prairie. We read that the tracks have since been removed and relocated.
We hope you are all having a lovely weekend! 💗
